Although the Sri Lankan cricket team withdrew from the semi – finals of the T20 Cricket World Cup in Dubai, Lankasara learns that a large number of group including 13 executive committee members of the Criket Board hacve flown to Dubai to watch Cricket matches at the expense of Sri Lanka Cricket.
It is said that the group numbered over 30, including some wives. Some sports club officials and other allies who have consistently voted to bring the current authorities to power are also among the grop, sources said .
All of them have been given tickets and hotel fees to travel to Dubai to watch air tickets and an extra dollar allowance to all members of the executive council.
The allowance ranges from three hundred and fifty to two hundred and fifty dollars a day, depending on their position.
It is reported that while some officers go there from time to time, one officer stays there for weeks.
There are two sports journalists are also among the group and it is said that this trip to Dubai is more of a pleasure for them to go shopping than just watching matches and that Cricket is spending more than Rs. 20 million for this.
