Wind speeds are also expected to increase up to 40 kmph at times over the island, particularly in western slopes of the Central hills and Northern, North-central, North-western provinces, and in the Hambanthota district.

The Dunamale Estate area in Kegalle received the highest rainfall of 17 mm in the last 24 hours.

The sea area extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota and the sea areas extending from Puttalam to Kankasanturai via Mannar can be rough at times as winds can increase up to 50- 60kmph. Several spells of showers will occur in the sea areas extending from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle.
