Underworld figure Kimbula Ele Guna enters election fray

Underworld figure Kimbula Ele Guna who had long escaped to India is said to have entered the election fray and is perpetrating violence through his supporters in the Colombo, Mutwal and Mattakkuliya areas according to Police sources. 

According to sources he is supporting to candidates from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna. While one is said to be a former Mayor, the other candidate who is receiving his support is part of the Viyathmaga organization. Kimbula Ele Guna’s associates are said to be now campaigning on behalf of the duo sources added. 

His operations in Colombo are reportedly being carried out by his associate known by the alias Ukku Putha. A group opposing the gang was attacked yesterday (24) evening by Ukku Putha’s supporters in Bloemandhal sources said.

Currently, six people injured in the attack are receiving treatment at the National Hospital. A reliable source also told Lankasara that two other candidates of the SLPP have already decided to bring this issue to the notice of the President and Prime Minister in the coming days.
