The Fort Magistrate’s Court today (11) ordered the further remand of former Presidential Secretary Saman Ekanayake until February 18.
Ekanayake was remanded on suspicion of aiding and abetting an offence by approving over Rs. 1.62 billion for former President Ranil Wickremesinghe to undertake a private visit to the United Kingdom.
The order was issued when the case was taken up before the court today.
Colombo Fort Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama made this ruling after considering the submissions of Additional Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris, appearing for the Criminal Investigation Department, and President’s Counsel Kalinga Indatissa, appearing for the defendant.
