It has been revealed that information regarding Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya’s secret visit to the National Hospital to see former President Ranil Wickremesinghe was leaked to the media by the hospital’s Deputy Director, Dr. Rukshan Bellana.

The news was first broadcast on a leading television channel and later shared by several other media outlets and across social media platforms. However, soon after the news was published, PM Dr.Harini Amarasuriya denied the allegations and instructed for an investigation.

According to investigations conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), media institutions confirmed that Dr. Bellana had verified the accuracy of the information. A statement from Dr. Bellana regarding the incident was recorded yesterday.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has launched a disciplinary inquiry against Dr. Bellana for allegedly exaggerating certain incidents since the former President’s hospitalization, breaching medical ethics, and unlawfully disclosing confidential medical details to the media.
