Five police teams have been deployed in the area to arrest the suspect involved in the rape of a female doctor at Anuradhapura Hospital.

Hospital sources report that all doctors at Anuradhapura Hospital have begun a strike, demanding the immediate arrest of the perpetrator.

The Government Medical Officers’ Association has convened its executive committee for a special discussion on measures to ensure the safety of doctors in the future, according to the association’s media spokesperson, Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe, in an investigation conducted by Lankasara.

The 32-year-old female doctor, who worked at Anuradhapura Hospital, returned to her official residence between 6:30 and 7:00 PM yesterday (10) when an unknown individual attacked and raped her at knifepoint. She has since filed a complaint with the Anuradhapura Police.
