The Sri Lankan handler of the four ISIS suspects arrested in Gujarat airport, India has been detained by the Terrorism Investigation Division (TID). Police sources revealed that the suspected local handler, named Ameer, provided crucial information regarding the alleged attempt to attack in India.

Amir’s revelations led the TID to investigate a person residing in the Borella Vanathamulla dump estate. This individual, believed to live on Veluwana Road in Dematagoda, is thought to possess vital information related to Amir’s activities. However, the suspect is currently evading authorities and is a registered criminal in hiding, involved in multiple robberies and possession of firearms.

Sources close to the investigation disclosed that all four suspects arrested in India were heavily involved in drug trafficking and gold smuggling, with a significant addiction to ice drugs. Their irregular lives, including multiple marriages, had disrupted their personal lives significantly.

Despite extensive investigations, authorities have found no evidence linking the arrested suspects’ involvement in the alleged attack to religious beliefs. This incident was deemed unique, not driven by extremist religious ideologies.

Meanwhile, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) revealed that two suspects had frequented India “38 to 40 times” and were well-acquainted with the country.

Both Sri Lankan and Indian authorities are intensifying their investigations into the alleged attack on Indian soil. Initial reports suggest that the suspects planned to target the Indian Premier League (IPL) final and a prominent Indian politician associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Indian law enforcement agencies are conducting further inquiries into the involvement of Indian nationals in the attempted attack on Indian soil. The situation remains under scrutiny as authorities gather more information to ensure the safety and security of the region.

Meanwhile, Sri Lankan authorities also investigating possible links to these suspects.
