Airports and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Company Limited has announced the commencement of direct flights between Mumbai and Colombo by Indian airline IndiGo, effective from today (12).

IndiGo Airlines will operate Mumbai-Colombo direct flights thrice a week, offering travel options on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. This new route expands IndiGo’s existing services from Colombo to India, which currently include flights to Chennai (twice daily), Bangalore (once daily), and Hyderabad (six days a week).

The addition of Mumbai-Colombo flights marks a significant milestone, increasing the total number of destinations served by IndiGo from Colombo to four. This development is poised to foster growth in travel, trade, and tourism between Sri Lanka and India, according to Airports and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Company Limited.

As the new flight season begins, IndiGo will operate a total of 30 weekly flights to Colombo from four major cities in India, further enhancing connectivity and accessibility for travelers.
