A Romanian tourist has drowned today (07) while swimming in the Moragalla sea according to reports from police.
The deceased, identified as 71-year-old Romanian citizen Tidor Nistorescu, was staying at a tourist hotel in the Moragalla area at the time of the unfortunate event.
According to authorities, the incident occurred while Nistorescu was swimming in the sea near the hotel premises. Despite efforts to rescue him, he was recovered from the water and rushed to Beruwala Regional Hospital. Sadly, Nistorescu was pronounced dead upon arrival, as confirmed by a hospital spokesperson.
The body of the deceased has been transferred to Beruwala Regional Hospital, where it will undergo a post-mortem examination at Kalutara Nagoda Teaching Hospital.
Aluthgama police have initiated investigations into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident, aiming to ascertain the sequence of events leading to Nistorescu’s untimely demise.
