ICC has not responded to the request made by Sri Lanka’s Sports Minister, Harin Fernando, to lift the ban imposed on Sri Lanka. The ban was imposed by the ICC on November 11th last year after the dissolution of the cricket body by former Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe.
Harin Fernando, who took office as the new Sports Minister on November 27th, subsequently requested the ICC to cancel the gazette issued by his predecessor and withdraw the ban imposed on Sri Lanka. However, there has been no response from the ICC to date.
According to reports, the delay in the ICC’s response is attributed to their study of the Auditor General’s forensic audit report, which has been sent to them. The report allegedly contains details of corruption irregularities involving current cricket managers, making the matter more complex for the ICC. The Sports Minister has not provided any updates on the situation.
