Harin Fernando has been appointed as the new Sports Minister in a recent presidential reshuffle following the removal of Roshan Ranasinghe.
The decision comes in the wake of Minister Ranasinghe’s critical statements in Parliament, accusing those shielding corruption in cricket.
Pavitra Vanniarachchi is to take over the vacant Irrigation Ministry post. MPs SB Dissanayake, Dayasiri Jayasekara, and Manusha Nanayakkara are reportedly potential successors for the Sports Minister role.
