A significant number of patients seeking treatment at Kahawatta Base Hospital in Ratnapura have experienced inconvenience following the departure of the resident eye doctor.

Residents from Kahawatta, Godakawela, Opanayake, Pelmadulla, Balangoda, and Weligepola Divisional Secretariat areas rely on this hospital for their medical needs.

According to a hospital spokesperson queried by Lanka Sara Kahawatta Hospital, the daily clinic at the facility receives around 80 patients, and the eye clinic operates six days a week.

The spokesperson disclosed that the eye doctor had left for overseas for further education approximately one month ago. Further inquiries revealed that while other doctors are attending to patients, surgeries have been temporarily halted.
