Leader of JVP for Nuwaraeliya, Micheal Aculus de Silva Passes Away

Former Central Provincial Council Member and leader of JVP for Nuwaraeliya, Michael Aculus de Silva, aged 62, passed away yesterday (02).

The tragic incident occurred after he collided with an electric wire while working on their garden. The wire had been installed to protect the vegetables.

Initial investigations by the Nuwara Eliya police suggest that Michael Aculus may have been electrocuted on the morning of yesterday (02).

Following the incident, an inquest into his death was conducted by Acting Magistrate Jayamini Ambagahawatta of the Nuwara Eliya District Court. The magistrate has ordered the Nuwara Eliya Police to send Michael Aculus de Silva’s body for a post-mortem examination by the Forensic Medical Officer at the Nuwara Eliya District General Hospital, with the examination report to be submitted to the court.

The family of the deceased has announced that the final rites will be conducted on Tuesday (05) at the Shantipura Bandura Public Cemetery.
