A Chinese national staying at the Thilanka Hotel in Kandy has been apprehended by Kandy police officers on suspicion of flying a drone camera from his room towards the premises of the Dalada Maligawa.
The incident occurred during the first Esela Perahara ceremony yesterday (21), when the drone camera was reportedly sent into the vicinity.
According to police findings, the Chinese individual, aged 43, was operating the drone camera around 9:30 pm on the same day. He had arrived in Sri Lanka from China last Sunday (20) and subsequently checked into the Kandy hotel.
Investigations into the incident are currently underway under the directives of Chief Inspector Rasika Sampath of the Kandy Police Headquarters.
