The Kilinochchi Magistrate’s Court has today (6) imposed an order banning the Tamil National People’s Front (TNPF) MP Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam from travelling abroad.

According to a report submitted by the Kilinochchi Maradankeni Police to the court, the Kilinochchi court has imposed this prohibitory order.

The Police say that when the MP Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam went to an examination centre in Kilinochchi with another group and held a political meeting on the school ground; the police objected to it and the MP had a conflict and an argument with the police.

The Maradankeni Police, who started investigating the incident, arrested two people from Kilinochchi and produced them before the court, after which the Kilinochchi court ordered them to be remanded until the 7th of June.
