A woman who claimed to be the sister of Senior DIG Ranmal Kodituwakku after being stopped for a traffic violation has been remanded and referred to the National Institute of Mental Health in Angoda, police sources said.

A widely circulated video on social media showed the woman arguing with traffic police officers after being stopped on the Kotugoda–Udugampola Road in Gampaha. She had reportedly ignored police orders to stop after violating traffic rules.

Police said the woman obstructed officers while falsely identifying herself as a sister of a Senior DIG. Investigations later revealed that she had no connection to the senior police officer, as claimed.

According to police sources, the woman is the wife of a prominent businessman who maintains certain business dealings with the police.
