Former United National Party (UNP) General Secretary and member of the Sajith Premadasa led Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Tissa Attanayake says he is willing to mediate between the SJB and current leader of the UNP Ranil Wickramasinghe so that the latter can make an honourable exit from politics. “I am willing to mediate to resolve this conflict and crisis,” he said.
However Attanayake said there will be one main condition involved. “Discussions can take place based on the condition that the reigns of the UNP will be handed over to Sajith Premadasa” he said.
Attanayake said he personally feels it is appropriate that both parties enter into discussions following August 20th when the new parliament meets for the first time to resolve the ongoing issues.
