Wigneswaran has called for protests to be held in the North and East on August 30 to mark the day as August 31, the official day of commemoration is a working day and it is difficult to mobilize the people.

It is noteworthy that Wigneswaran has sent the letter to the leaders of the Tamil National Alliance  as well and states that the Tamil political fractions should join unconditionally in launching the struggle for the rights of the Tamil people.

In his letter, Wigneswaran pointed out that a large number of people who went missing during the war were in the North and East and called on the people of those areas through their political parties and voluntary organizations to join the protest against the still unresolved issue of missing persons.
