In a crackdown by the Mahabage police at the sports room of St. Anthony’s College in Wattala, the cricket coach was apprehended along with a T56 firearm, four magazines, 125 bullets, 18mm:9 bullets, and a set of sports clothes typically worn by police officers.
Intelligence agencies acted on information suggesting the cricket coach, associated with an organized criminal currently overseas, was involved in collecting drug money on behalf of a criminal figure and forwarding the funds to smugglers abroad.
Upon investigation, authorities discovered the suspect hiding the firearm and ammunition in a closet within the school’s sports room. Further inquiries are underway concerning the detained individual.
