Veteran actress Damita Abeyratne and her husband were arrested today (04) by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). The arrest comes after the couple had been avoiding a summons issued by the CID in connection with a money fraud case.
This afternoon, Damita Abeyratne and her husband appeared at the Fort Magistrate’s Court. However, as they were leaving the court premises after their motion was rejected, they were apprehended by the CID.
In a defiant statement made at the scene, Damita Abeyratne asserted that she could not be hidden and emphasized her commitment to facing the legal proceedings. She declared, “I didn’t hide. This Damita is not a person who can hide in this country.”.
The arrest of Damita Abeyratne has drawn attention and raised questions about the allegations against her and the unfolding legal proceedings.
