Veteran actor Amarasiri Kalansuriya bids farewell!

Veteran film actor Mr. Amarasiri Kalansuriya passed away Saturday morning. He returned home after being hospitalized for a short time due to illness and passed away at his residence.

Mr. Amarasiri Kalansuriya, who was awarded with many presidential and Sarasavi awards, was 83 years old when he died. The veteran made his film debut in Sugathapala Senarath Yapa’s ‘Hantane Kathawa’.

After that, Mr. Amarasiri Kalansuriya, who showed his acting talent as an excellent character actor in many films such as Ahas Gawwa, Akkara Paha, Sagarayak Meda, , Tharanga, Bambaru Avithi, Puja, etc. Mr. Amarasiri Kalansuriya, who played the lead role in the country’s first teledrama, Dimuthu Muthu, became popular with the audience as a humble artist.

Born in Kandy, Mr. Kalansuriya is an old boy of Dharmaraja College, Kandy. Mr. Kalansoouria’s funeral will be announced later.
