US donates to renovates historical royal palace in Kandy!

The US Government has provided an estimated $ 265,000 for the preservation of the old Royal Palace Complex in Kandy, which is run by the Department of Archeology.
The US-funded conservation project was launched today (15) at the palace complex under the patronage of US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Julie Chung.

The US Embassy in Sri Lanka and the Department of Archeology have entered into a joint agreement to implement a museum improvement project in conjunction with the preservation of the old palace.

All these conservation activities are to be carried out under the supervision of the Department of Archeology.

To mark the commencement of this project, the Director General of Archeology, Prof. Anura Manatunga presented a souvenir with the Sri Lankan identity to the Ambassador.

Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela, Central Provincial Assistant Director of the Department of Archeology DMBJB Dissanayake and several others were present on the occasion.
