Two power plants of Kelanitissa given fuel for two days !

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has taken steps to release 3,000 metric tons of diesel to the two power plants at the Kelanitissa Power Plant which are currently out of fuel. Accordingly, the commissioning of these two power plants on the today will enable to add 300 megawatts of electricity to the national grid, the a CEB official said.

According to a senior official of the Ceylon Electricity Board, a decision will be taken in this regard and will be notified to the public. However, the CEB has instructed the CPC to repay the existing loans in dollars and obtain fuel, he said, adding that the current dollar crisis has made it impossible to make these payments.
