A group of trade union representatives is preparing to take legal action against a senior official of the Ports Authority over the alleged mismanagement of the Ports Authority Cricket Club, which reportedly caused financial losses amounting to millions of rupees, Lankasara learns.
They allege that the official continues to operate a Sampath Bank account under a different name in connection with the Ports Authority and has, together with a former chairman, sold the Ports Authority Cricket Club to another institution.
As a result, the National Services Cricket Association has imposed a ban on the Ports Authority, preventing its players from participating in tournaments organized by the association.
A Ports Authority cricketer claimed this has violated his human rights, as he has been deprived of the chance to play in top-level and national service cricket matches.
