It has been decided to appoint a three-member committee to investigate the earth tremors reported in several areas in Kandy.
According to the Geology and Mining Bureau Chairman Anura Walpola, the committee would consist of professors and lecturers of the Peradeniya and Moratuwa Universities.
The Chairman said that the relevant committee would seek expert advice on the causes of the tremors and the long-term solutions that could be given to it. Several tremors were reported in several areas in the Kandy District recently.
The Geological Survey and Mines Bureau stated that a tremor had occurred at around 11.30 pm on the 11th. The quake affected Kundasale, Panvila, and Wattegama areas. The Geological Survey and Mines Bureau said the quake was recorded at four seismic monitoring stations.
