The notorious Kushan of the Oman Embassy will be arrested as soon as he arrives in this country! Minister Manusha

An officer named Kushan, who has been interdicted by the Foreign Employment Bureau, has also been accused of exerting undue pressure on women who had already travelled to Oman for employment.

The officer was accused of selling women while working at the Sri Lankan Embassy. The Ministry of Foreign Employment is making arrangements to bring him to Sri Lanka immediately, and he will be arrested on arrival, Minister of Labor and Foreign Employment Mr Manusha Nanayakkara said in Parliament today.

While making a statement in Parliament on the current situation with regard to Sri Lankan women who have gone to Oman and other countries, the minister said this in response to a supplementary question raised by Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Hector Appuhamy.

Minister Manusha Nanayakkara, who spoke further, said that there is only an allegation related to this officer, and accordingly, investigations will be conducted on his activities after his arrest.

Further commenting, the Minister of Labor and Foreign Relations mentioned that a large number of women who have gone to work on tourist visas have faced various problems in countries including Oman and that many of them have been brought here by now, but the women who went on tourist visas are still there. The minister informed parliament about the measures taken to control this situation.

He further mentioned that the Foreign Employment Bureau had taken appropriate steps to apprise the media about this crisis. As a result, a group of officials from the Criminal Investigation Department travelled to Oman for further investigation.
