The suspected killer responsible for the shooting of two individuals near Bastion Mawatha in Minuwangoda on the 17th has been fatally shot in a shootout with the Special Task Force at Embili Field this morning (24).
The intense exchange of gunfire occurred while the suspect was hiding in a house in the Panamura Welikadaya area of Embilipitiya. Identified as a 22-year-old deserter, the police have confirmed his involvement in multiple underworld murders.
The initial incident occurred when a group of individuals shot at two victims riding a motorcycle in the Hinatiana area with a T56 firearm before fleeing the scene. The victims, aged 33 and 43 and residing in Minuwangoda, sustained gunshot wounds.
Additionally, the suspect faced charges related to the shooting incident targeting the Deputy Principal of Ambalangoda Dharmashoka Vidyalaya.
Just two days ago, the Special Task Force successfully apprehended another male and female linked to these two murders.
