Station masters accused of destroying travel dreams of post covid tourists

The stranded tourists who lost their train journey due sudden union action of Railway Station masters, expressed their displeasure over this kind of unorganized union actions. The tourists who were waiting in Kandy railway station to travel up country last minute have come to know that trains will not be operated due to union action. The passengers who were angry at the non-operation of trains on the Kandyan route due to the sudden strike by the station masters have behaved aggresively at the Kandy railway station this morning (13) and damaged a window of a rail compartment .

The train was traveling to Badulla and Kandy areas when it was suspended due to a strike by station masters. About 500 people had gathered at the railway station at the time of the attack and a group of Kandy police officers had intervened to control them.

Police have taken steps to direct the group to their destinations by SLTB and private buses.

A large number of foreigners who came to visit the upcountry by train were also inconvenienced and they said that although Sri Lanka is a beautiful country, they regret the inconvenience caused to the people in this manner.
