Sri Lankan Family Murdered in Ottawa, Canada

Six Dead, Including Four Children

A Sri Lankan family was tragically killed in their home in Barhaven, Ottowa on Wednesday (06) night. Four children and two adults were found dead at the scene. The children’s mother is confirmed to be among the deceased, while their father sustained serious injuries and is currently hospitalized.

Emergency services received a call at approximately 10:50 pm. While the identities of all victims haven’t been officially released, a representative from the Sri Lankan High Commission confirmed the deaths of a Sri Lankan mother and three children. The High Commission also reported that the children’s father, though critically injured, survived the attack.

Police apprehended a suspect approximately 15 kilometers south of Ottawa’s downtown core. Authorities have not yet disclosed the suspect’s identity or their connection to the victims.

Ottawa Police Chief Eric Stubbs acknowledged the ongoing investigation and declined to comment on the relationship between the victims and the suspect. Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe expressed his shock at the incident, calling it “one of the most shocking incidents of violence in our city’s history.” The Mayor echoed the sentiments of the community, expressing that residents are deeply shaken by this tragedy.
