Sri Lanka changes history by winning the first Twenty20 series victory against India.
Chasing a target of 81, Sri Lanka reached the target in 14 overs with three wickets in hand. They won the match by 07 wickets.
Wanindu Hasaranga smashed the Indian innings. He celebrated his birthday with a remarkable performance with 4 wickets for 9 runs in 4 overs. Since Kuldeep Yadav was being the highest scorer for India with 23 off 28 balls. Bhuvnesh Kumar (16) and Ruthraj Gaikwad (14) were the top scorers with two runs each.
Dushmantha Chamira gave up just 16 runs in 4 overs and took a wicket. Skipper Dasun Shanaka took 02 wickets for 20 runs in 02 overs. Ramesh Mendis took a wicket for 13 runs in 02 overs. The Indians scored only 81 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.
Avishka Fernando and Minod Bhanuka started the Sri Lankan innings. Rahul Chahar was bowled out for 12 by Avishka. Minod Bhanuka scored 18 off 27 balls while Rahul was caught for wicket-keeping. Sadheera Samarawickrema lost completely to Rahul. In the middle of him, Rahul’s last ball was rolled.
Rahul Chaharya took all 03 wickets for India. He excelled with bowling without giving up the fight and took 03 wickets for 15 runs in 4 overs.
Then Wanindu Hasaranga came on the field. Wanindu Hasanga and Dananjaya de Silva finished the match. Dhananjaya de Silva scored 23 off 20 balls.
Wanindu scored 14 runs in 9 balls.
So far, Sri Lanka has played five Twenty20 Internationals with India. India won three of the four tournaments held in 2009, 2017, 2018 and 2020. One tournament ended in a draw.
