The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has decided to support the government in passing the 20th Amendment to the Constitution in Parliament.

It is reported that a meeting of the leaders representing the Central Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party was held at the residence of former President Maithripala Sirisena at Paget Road last night (08) where the 20th Amendment was discussed at length.

During the discussion, it was decided to discuss with the President and the Prime Minister several issues pertaining to the 20th Amendment approved by the Cabinet and to inform the relevant parties of their position to amend them.

However, it has been decided that the Central Committee should be convened again to discuss these decisions.

Among the decisions taken last night was the reorganization of the party and the expeditious filling of vacant electoral organizer posts and how to face the forthcoming provincial council elections.
