Former Northern provincial council member M.K Sivajilingam was arrested in Velvitaturai, Jaffna today. According to Police, he was taken into custody after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Courts had issued a warrant in connection to a case being heard at the Point Pedro Magistrates Court on the Maaveerar Naal celebrations held in 2018. The warrant was issued as Sivajilingam had avoided presenting himself before the courts.
Sivajilingam is contesting under the Thamil Makkala Theshiya Kootani (TMTK) party led by C.V Wigenswaran in the upcoming general election.
