Sharp Increase in Fuel Prices Announced

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (Ceypetco) has announced a significant increase in fuel prices, which came into effect from midnight yesterday (21).

According to the revision, the price of auto diesel has risen by Rs. 79 to Rs. 382 per litre, while super diesel has gone up by Rs. 90 to Rs. 443 per litre.

Petrol 92 octane has also increased by Rs. 81, bringing the new price to Rs. 398 per litre. Kerosene prices have been raised by Rs. 60 to Rs. 255 per litre, and petrol 95 octane has increased by Rs. 90 to Rs. 455 per litre.

Meanwhile, Lanka IOC has also decided to adjust its fuel prices in line with the increases announced by Ceypetco.

The revised prices are as follows:

Auto Diesel – Rs. 382 (up by Rs. 79)
Super Diesel – Rs. 443 (up by Rs. 90)
Petrol 92 Octane – Rs. 398 (up by Rs. 81)
Kerosene – Rs. 255 (up by Rs. 60)
Petrol 95 Octane – Rs. 455 (up by Rs. 90)

 

Meanwhile the government  announce yesterday that the weekly fuel quotas allocated under the QR code system  will be increased with effect from midnight yesterday (21).

The revised quotas are as follows:

• Cars: 25 liters

• Three-wheelers: 20 liters

• Motorcycles: 8 liters

• Buses: 100 liters

• Vans: 50 liters

• Land vehicles: 40 liters

• Quadricycle: 8 litrers

Meanwhile, there will be no change in the fuel quotas allocated for lorries and special-purpose vehicles.
