The Secretary General of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, (CPA) Mr. Stephen Twigg, is scheduled to arrive on the island tonight (10), the Acting Secretary General of the Parliament Ms. Kushani Rohanadeera said.
Accordingly, the Deputy Chairman of Committees Hon. Angajan Ramanathan and the Assistant Secretary General of Parliament Mr. Tikiri Jayathilaka will welcome the Secretary General of CPA and the group. Mr. Twigg’s visit to Sri Lanka will be accompanied by Ms. Emily Davies, Head of Strategy and Engagement of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.
Mr. Stephen Twigg was appointed as the 8th Secretary General of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) on 01 August 2020. Before that, he had served as a Member of Parliament in the United Kingdom from 1997 to 2005 and from 2010 to 2019.
the Acting Secretary General further stated that, during the visit of the Secretary General of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Mr. Stephen Twig in the country, meetings are scheduled with the President, the Prime Minister, the Speaker, the Leader of the House, the Leader of the Opposition, the Foreign Minister and other Ministers, Members of Parliament as well as representatives of civil organizations.
