Opposition Leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa has voiced concerns over the high levels of child, infant, and maternal malnutrition prevalent in the country. Citing statistics from a 2022 census indicating that 25% of children aged 5-18 are underweight, Premadasa stressed the urgent need for action to address this critical issue.

In an effort to tackle the malnutrition crisis affecting mothers, babies, children, and school children, Sajith Premadasa announced plans to meet with representatives from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the coming week.
