Police have tightened security around the Fort Magistrate’s Court, the Colombo National Hospital, and surrounding areas as the case of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe is scheduled to be taken up this afternoon.
According to police, the hearing is set for 2 p.m. today at the Colombo Magistrate’s Court. Additional security has also been deployed in Slave Island, where opposition groups have gathered supporters to march toward the court premises.
Both main roads leading to the Fort Magistrate’s Court from Kew Road have been secured with roadblocks, while access through Barrack Lane has been restricted. Only journalists and authorized individuals are permitted entry via these routes. Meanwhile, a large crowd organized by political groups has gathered near the Slave Island Kovil at the end of Kew Road, awaiting access to the court vicinity.
