Bond Scam: Ravi and seven others can be arrested without warrants

The Attorney General’s Department on Friday (27) informed Courts that Former Minister of Power and Energy, Ravi Karunanayake and seven others can be arrested without warrants over the allegations relating to the Bond scam case. 

Additional Solicitor General Milinda Gunathilake informed the courts of the fact when a petition filed by Karunanayake and seven other suspects seeking the prevention of their arrest were taken up in courts.

Colombo Fort Magistrates court had ordered their arrest on March 6. Gunathilake told courts that the suspects have been charged with offences under the public property act and a magistrate has the powers to issue warrants for the arrests. According to the Additional Solicitor General suspects charged with these offences can be arrested even without such a warrant.
