Public barred from Kachchativu feast due to Covid pandemic

The Catholic Church in Jaffna and the security forces have decided to cancel the Kachchativu annual festival scheduled to be held on the 26th and 27th of this month and not to allow any devotee to attend on the day.

Several Catholic priests in Jaffna will perform a special service on the appointed day at St. Anthony’s Church on Kachchativu Island sans the attendance of the public.

Every year Indian and Sri Lankan devotees gather at St. Anthony’s Church on Kachchativu Island for two days a year to hold their annual feast.

Due to the Corona epidemic, devotees will not be allowed to attend the festival this year and the Navy will not make arrangements for the devotees.

Indian devotees have also been advised not to attend the annual festival on Kachchativu Island as it will not be held this year.
