President to meet families of the Missing in the North

A senior government official has told a foreign newspaper that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa will meet the families of missing persons who have been continuing their agitation in the search of their loved ones. This meeting will be held under the ‘Gama Samaga Pilisandarak’ (Discussion with the village) being carried out by the President.

This will be the first instance the President will meet families of the missing, especially in the North and East. Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs, Admiral Jayanath Colombage speaking to The Hindu on Thursday, February 25 had said “The President is determined to end this problem and provide a solution for those families.”

“The president wants to listen to these relatives rather than politicians, identify the realities of their grievances, and address them,” he said.
