Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera says that he was informed by the Secretary of his ministry that the officials that took part in the discussion with Human Rights Commission yesterday regarding the power interruptions had been pressurized to sign 2 documents and threatened with jail sentences by the two members of the Human Rights Commission. The Minister on his Twitter further says that two officials were threatened when they did not agree to sign those documents.
“The officials have already consulted legal opinions on the steps to be taken against the HRC members & have submitted in writing on the events that had taken place. I have informed HE The President, yesterday morning & will inform the Constitutional council in writing.” Minister Kanchana Wijesekaera further stated.
