Security forces suspect that attacks on Catholic statues in Mannar are carried in an organized manner.
Due to the continuous attacks on the statues, the Army and the Police have launched a special security operation in Mannar from yesterday. These forces are vigilant on such sites in the area. No one has identified so far behind those attacks.

A police chief said the attack was suspected to have been carried out with the intention of creating some unrest among the people. The official added that the attacks were carried out after Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith held a press conference regarding the Easter attack.
