Eight police stations have recorded statements from a Tamil MP who led a peace march from Pottuvil to Polikandy to educate the public about human rights violations in the North and East.

“Police officers from eight police divisions (Muttur, Kattankudi, Kilinochchi, Mankulam, Valaicholai, Sammanthurai, Valvettithurai and Kalmunai) visited our office to inquire about the #P2P protests from Pottuvil to Polikandy. There I explained to them about the agitation on behalf of our people” Tamil National Alliance MP Shanakiyan Rajaputhiran Rasamanickam said.

He also said he is set to give statements to several other police stations in the North and East as well.

He told the media that police officers called the #P2P protest anti-democratic had questioned him about joining it. He said he had stressed that the march was launched to promote democracy in the country.
