Police have arrested 83 people by 6.00 am today (30) for violating election laws. They have also taken 19 vehicles into custody.
According to the Police, a majority of those arrested are connected to the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna. However, the Police source said no political pressure has been exerted on the Police seeking their release.
Currently, the Police have received only 17 election-related complaints, he added.
