The 21st Amendment to the Constitution, which repeals the 20th Amendment and includes a number of positive reforms with its positive elements, is due to be presented to the inaugural Cabinet of the new government.

Legal experts said the country would face another catastrophe if the amendment was not passed in parliament in the hope of bringing about the necessary constitutional reforms to save the country from the devastating economic and political anarchy.

When inquired from a senior politician in SLPP regarding this move, he stated that there is no definite decision in this regard and a discussion has taken place within the party. He further added that SLPP was of the view that the executive should not be dissolved unless it increased its power in such a difficult situation.
