The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has taken steps to hand over the payment of compensation for depositors of The Finance Company PLC to the People’s Bank. The Finance company PLC was stripped of its operating licence by the CBSL recently. The paying of compensation will commence on Monday (08) and CBSL said the depositors will be able to collect it at the nearest People’s Bank branch in the vicinity of The Finance Company PLC branch they have their accounts at.
According to the provisions under the Sri Lanka Deposit Insurance and Liquidity Assistance Scheme, all insured depositors will be compensated up to a maximum of Rs. 600 000.
Individual depositors who have only one account will be paid the first stage.
