No request to made to Mahinda the Prime Minister,” says Sagara.

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Secretary General Sagara Kariyawasam says that no request has been made to the President to reinstate Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime Minister.

He said this at a press conference held today (15).

He said this while responding to the rumours that Mahinda Rajapaksa would become prime minister again after deploying security forces in Colombo and throwing a stringent security dragnet around Colombo.

Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa will not be appointed Prime Minister by secretly deploying forces, and he will be appointed to that position only with the blessings of the people, said the party’s General Secretary and Member of Parliament, Mr. Sagara Kariyawasam.

Speaking at the press conference held today (15.05.2023) at the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna party headquarters, the Podujana Peramuna Secretary also said:

“Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa is trying to make a comeback as the prime minister.  is a completely baseless story. I think people who are politically bankrupt at this point are spreading this kind of story to the public. We see that they are trying to get some mileage in the media to cover up their bankruptcy by releasing such baseless false statements to the media and the people.

But we say very clearly that Mahinda Rajapaksa is the greatest leader born in this country. Also, Mahinda Rajapaksa is the leader who ended a 30-year war by ending a war that four presidents could not end. We will never appoint such a leader stealthily to a high position under the cover of the armed forces.
