The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority has released a new set of guidelines for tourists as per the instructions issued by the Ministry of Health.

According to SLTDA, there will be no restrictive quarantine required for tourists and no minimum number of days to travel set. The release also said that tourists will be allowed to visit 14 approved tourist sites under the safety of a bio-bubble. Accommodation during the time will only be allowed in hotels certified as ‘Safe and Secure’ Level 1 for up to 14 days of their stay.

The guidelines also detailed that a fee amounting to 40 USD per PCR test will be charged when applying for a visa online. The SLTDA also said no exceptions would be made for vaccinations already taken and that all safety protocols should be adhered to regardless.

The guidelines state that tourists may arrive through Charter Flights, Scheduled Flights or Private Jets, at both Katunayake and Mattala Airports. Special arrangements for the crew would be agreed upon in advance by the Civil Aviation and Airport

Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) will inform the details of arrivals to the Ministry of Health via the following emails and the local area Medical Officer prior to the arrival of the respective flights.

Meanwhile it has also been announced that All incoming passengers, Sri Lankan passport holders and Foreign Passport Holders, have to obtain prior approval from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Sri Lanka Mission of the respective country in order to enter into Sri Lanka due to the pandemic. Such approvals will be sent directly to the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) and this Authority will direct the respective airline to issue tickets for such approved passengers.

CAASL has set up [email protected], a dedicated email address for passenger approvals with effect from January 06, 2021.
