Naveen pledges to work for Sabaragamuwa with his full potential.

Naveen Dissanayake, the new governor of Sabaragamuwa Province, pledged to discharge his duties efficiently for the well-being of the people of Sabaragamuwa. He said he would accomplish his task come what may since he wields all the power in the province in the absence of a provincial council.

“The President promised to give me the position of Governor of Sabaragamuwa Province about eight months ago, and the promise made by the President has now come true”. Navin Dissanayake made these remarks while speaking to the media after being sworn in as governor.

“The president promised me the position about 8 months ago. So it has come true today. This is a position similar to that of a cabinet minister. Where there is no provincial council, the governor has all the power. So I hope to use those powers and render a great service to Sabaragamuwa province.”

“One thing we learned from the President himself is that we should face challenges. That means you need to go somewhere and accept that challenge. So I came here, especially at a time of financial crisis, at a time when the government is pruning down all expenditures. I hope to do a great service to Sabaragamuwa, especially the education sector, by getting money from the private sector to the best of my ability. So if I can do that in a short period of 18 months, I think that’s a personal achievement and victory for me.”
