Their first destination involves an immersive exploration in the Ginigalpalassa (GGP) and Indikolapalassa (IP) regions, followed by a journey to the captivating Ussangoda area located in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka.

When questioned by Ada Derana, Mr. Karunathilake highlighted that the distinctive geographical features of Sri Lanka exhibit striking similarities to certain rocks and soils observed on the red planet, Mars.

Adding further insights to the discussion, Ven. Kapugolle Anandakiththi Thero, a respected senior lecturer at the University of Kelaniya, shed light on two specific rock types discovered in these areas.

“The first is the Blue Marble Rock (Nil Garuda), and the second is the Moonstone (Chandrakantha),” Ven. Kapugolle Anandakiththi Thero elaborated.

Furthermore, Ven. Kapugolle Anandakiththi Thero emphasized the significance of conducting extensive research to ascertain whether these Sinhala names accurately correspond to the characteristics of these rock types.
