Minister summons a report from CID over AGs claim on Easter Sunday attacks

Minister of Public Security Rear Admiral Dr. Sarath Weerasekera has summoned a report from the CID to inquire into what happened following the Inspector General was informed by the Attorney General in writing in a 130 page report that the investigation into the Easter attack was incomplete. He further said the report from CID yet to receive this evening or tomorrow.

When inquired by the media today (16) the Minister said that he too wanted to know about this new trend. One month ago, the CID received all the reports needed to prosecute 35 people involved in the Easter attack.

The Minister further said that he would meet the CID officials next week to inquire into what had happened and make a statement to the country.

However, the Attorney General had informed the IGP that the testimony of 42 suspects in that grade involved in the Easter attack had not been confirmed in writing. That the investigations involving five were incomplete.
